Hotelier of the Year



(hereinafter: "Competition") organised by:
Polskie Wydawnictwa Specjalistyczne ProMedia Sp. z o.o., with its registered office in Warsaw, 04-386, ul. Paca 37, entered in the National Court Register maintained by the District Court for the Capital City of Warsaw, XIII Commercial Division at KRS 0000167606, NIP 113 24 28 273, REGON 015488895
(hereinafter: "Organiser")

The purpose of the national “HOTELIER OF THE YEAR” Competition is to select and promote the best hotel managers and other persons in managerial posts in hotels, standing out thanks to the effectiveness in their operation in volatile economic conditions, their professionalism and work ethics.
  1. The Competition is not a gambling game within the meaning of the Act of 19 November 2009 on gambling games (Journal of Laws of 2009, No 201, item 1540, as amended).
  2. The Organiser is a party making a public pledge within the meaning of Article 919 of the Civil Code.
  1. The Organiser shall not collect fees for the Participant’s application for the Competition.
  2. Natural persons meeting the following formal requirements shall have the right to participate in the “HOTELIER OF THE YEAR” Competition:
    • a) they carry out their duties in entities having a registered office in Poland on the basis of a contract of employment or a civil law agreement (a management contract)
    • b) they work in the following positions: hotel manager, hotel sales/marketing manager, front office manager, revenue manager (does not concern the PERSON OF THE YEAR category)
    • c) at the moment of taking part in the competition, they have at least 12-month continuous service in the present position (does concern the General Manager of Chain Hotel and General Manager of Independent Hotel).
  3. Applications may be submitted to the Competition personally or through a nomination by a third party (natural person, institution).
  4. In order to take part in the Competition, you should send an application via www.hoteltrends.pl/hotelier_of_the_year_nominate_your_candidate
  5. The application should contain the following information:
    • Application category
    • First names and surname
    • Age (optional; compulsory in the HOTELIER OF THE YEAR UP TO THE AGE OF 35 category)
    • Education
    • Company name
    • Company address
    • Telephone number
    • E-mail address
    • Position
    • Career / Achievements / Justification
  6. The Organiser shall have the right to verify data presented by the Competition Participant or notify the need to supplement the data within the deadline appointed by the Organiser. The Participant’s failure to supplement the data within the appointed deadline shall result in the Participant being removed from the list of persons taking part in the Competition.
  1. Applications for the Competition – HOTELIER OF THE YEAR – may be submitted from 01.07.2019 do 15.10.2019
  2. The applicant represents that they are authorised to express a consent to the use of materials sent in the form described above, which also refers to the following elements contained in the materials: names and logos of facilities in which they worked or work, photographs, and that they grant such consent. Thus, they shall be liable for any claims of third parties which might arise from the use of the materials submitted.
  3. The title of the Laureate in the given category shall not be subject to an exchange to any other form of award. It is also unacceptable to give up the award for the benefit of any third parties.
  4. Names of the Competition Laureates shall be announced during the award ceremony on 25 November 2019 at the Gala in Warsaw.
  1. Laureates shall be selected in the Competition through the vote of the awarding committee in the categories described below:
    • General Manager of Chain Hotel
    • General Manager of Independent Hotel
    • Sales And Marketing Director
    • Revenue Manager
    • Hotelier under 35 Years Old.
    And in the special category:
    • Person of the Year (selected on the basis of the decision of Organisers – the editorial committee of the “Hotelarz” magazine)
  2. Laureates shall be selected as a result of a vote by jurors (this does not refer to the Person of the Year category) who are members of the Awarding Committee of the Hotelier of the Year 2019 Competition, composed of representatives selected by the Organiser and announced to the public.
    • a) The winner of each category of the Competition shall be the person who has received the largest number of votes. Each of the Jurors may award 1 vote to a selected Participant in each category. Votes acquired by the given Participant from all Jurors add up. The Members of the Awarding Committee vote personally or using means of remote communication. The voting of the Awarding Committee takes place until November 12, 2019.
    • b) In the case where two or more Participants receive the same number of points, they are classified as joint winners.
  3. Laureates of previous editions of the Competition automatically become members of the Awarding Committee which selects winners for two following editions of the Competition.
  4. Members of the Awarding Committee may not vote for competition Participants professionally connected with hotels and hotel chains which they represent.
  5. The Awarding Committee may, if necessary, request additional information and additional documentation which may decide the final results of the Competition.
  6. The evaluation criteria applied by the Awarding Committee are as follows:
    • a) professional achievements of the Participant,
    • b) qualifications,
    • c) contribution to the building of the company’s competitive position on the market,
    • d) professional career,
    • e) professional reliability and ethics,
    • f) economic results of the company.
    For the evaluation of the Participant, the Awarding Committee may take into account also other criteria, at its own discretion.
  1. All complaints connected with the participation in the Competition may be submitted by registered mail to the Organiser’s address.
  2. The data identifying the applicant or the voter should be provided in the complaint, in particular the name, address and data concerning the Participant appraised in the Competition. The complaint should also contain a correctly formulated objection as to the process of the Competition. The complaint should be justified and signed by the person authorised to represent the Participant or by the voter.
  3. The complaint may be submitted within 7 days of the date on which the reason for the complaint occurred, however no later than 14 days after the conclusion of the Competition. Whether the deadline for the submission of the complaint has been observed shall be decided on the basis of the postal stamp.
  4. The Organiser shall examine the complaint and notify the Participant in writing by a registered letter about the acceptance or rejection of the complaint within 21 working days of receiving the complaint, together with the indication of the reasons for the decision.
  1. The Participants express their consent to (grants a licence for) free-of-charge publication of data, names, logos, trademarks, photographs of facilities, information about Participants and laureates of the Competition, information or abbreviated information or materials, presented in the sent materials on the pages of “Hotelarz”, in the press as well as on the radio, television and on websites, in computer and multimedia network, in newsletters and correspondence, disclosed by the Participant or available via the Participant’s official website. The Participant’s consent covers also statements made by the Participants’ representatives, as well as the use of first names, surnames and images of those persons if such are made available to the Organiser by the Participant or if they have been made available or published on the Participant’s official website. It also encompasses the Organiser’s publication of information about the adjudication of the Competition and its promotion.
  2. The Participants express their consent to receiving commercial information sent by means of electronic communication and by post from the Organiser.
  3. The Regulations are available online at www.hotel-trends.pl/hotelier_of_the_year_regulation
  4. The condition for the participation in the Competition is the acceptance of provisions of these Regulations. Taking part in the Competition, the Participant undertakes to observe the provisions of these Regulations. The breach of this undertaking by the Participant constitutes the basis for the refusal to name the Participant as the Laureate, and for excluding the Participant from the Competition.
  5. The Organiser reserves the right to change the provisions of the Regulations, provided it does not result in the deterioration of the conditions of participation in the Competition. The information about any change shall be published on the Website. The publication of the Regulations and any of its amendments on the Website shall mean that it has been notified to the Participants.
  6. In matters not regulated in the Regulations provisions of generally binding law shall apply, in particular the Civil Code.
